Feeling Blue? Listen To Blu's 'Dodged A Bullet'

Dodging a bullet is a term for avoiding something at all costs, but Blu Ernest’s latest release is a track that after listening you will do everything in your power to listen to over and over again. The Brighton-based artist fuses 90’s R&B nostalgia with a lo-fi styled hip-hop labelled as a tender mix of nonchalant vocals over a silky smooth yet sombre production. Fans of Brent Faiyaz and Jorja Smith will no doubt gravitate towards Blu’s authentic, honest portrait of himself.

‘Dodged A Bullet’ by Blu Ernest

Raised in a small seaside town, Blu Ernest was born with an underdog mindset, a trait that has allowed him to overcome the lowest points in his life, and fire himself into pole position to take full control of the upcoming year. Blu explained: “People will always root for the underdog, but when no-one’s there, you’ve got to root for yourself.” However, you’d imagine that these days with the music that Blu is releasing, he’s never going to be on his own ever again with the crowds he’s now attracting.

Following the success of ‘The Chill’, Blu Ernest has his sights set on success with an intoxicating debut release from his forthcoming ‘___ On My Mind’ project. Entirely self-produced, ‘Dodged A Bullet’ is the first frenzy of hard-hitting 808’s and R&B knocks. After enjoying radio coverage from Jamz Supernova, and press coverage from the likes of Clash Magazine and Trench that is nothing short of deserved. Blu Ernest is certainly one to watch for 2022.
