The rise of UK rap is astronomical. We have seen artists successfully transition themselves into the scene out in North America flawlessly, and quite frankly, a lot of cities are now taking influence from the sound that comes out of London. You can almost say that the rise in UK rap goes hand in hand with what is happening down in Atlanta, in terms of inserting their sound into the mainstream, and just a general consensus of camaraderie amongst rappers active today.

Enter Kliicks, with his single Take Risks. At first glance you can already tell that this artist has some weight behind him, sporting a premiere from UK rap plugs, GRM Daily, then you listen to his music, and there is no explanation needed into wondering why. This is UK rap music, he explains the grittiness of his lifestyle so vividly in this track it almost takes you into that life. He also shows that poise, one that almost all UK rappers have. Its not cockiness, its more pride, you can tell off the cadence of the song, and the way Kliicks presents himself, that he is moving neat. Now onto the beat, not much to be said here, its a hitter, from the guitar to the drums, it fits the song perfectly in a way that the artist wraps his words around it and just plainly owns the beat.

Another standout from this song, is the use of wordplay. One thing that really gets me about UK rap and why I, myself am a huge fan of UK rap is the how they put their words and rhymes together. In my honest opinion, some of the best rappers in the world today, are coming out of the UK. Now this might not make sense to some people because of the differences in terminologies, but if you really look into it, and gain an understanding of the way they talk out there, the words just make sense. Plus, it shows a lot when other cities are adopting terms originating in the UK into their own language.

This is a solid 8/10. The rapping - great, the beat - great, everything about this song is something to enjoy. I would love to see Kliicks put out more music tho, to gain a better understanding of who he is as an artist, a quick look into his backstory, and more importantly to see how versatile he can be as an artist. Overall, great track, you have gained a fan. Listen to Take Risks by Kliicks now on the MNRCHY playlist.
