So I am a fan for UK music as you know by now, however of recent I have broadened my vision across the oceans to find up and coming underground RnB that can make ripples transatlantically. Now, I am definitely a multi-genre babes if you ask me myself, however an eclectic sound of wispy tones, within the subtle strum of a guitar fuelled with a depth of bass is most definitely my bag and therefore when I am introduced to a tune that makes me want to light a candle, sip something indulgent and sit in the moment, then I’m sold. This week a song made me do just this.
A delicate introduction lead me into the cascading vocals of JUSTY, on her new track, Blues On The Crosley. Her crisp yet satin-like vocals descend on the tune in a way that is seasonally idyllic, perfectly suited to the theme of her lyricism throughout the song. Whilst engulfing us in the depth of melodic emotion, she takes us along a path of personal storytelling, in a way that cultivates feelings of real empathy, reminiscent of times previously, attributing to the seasonal cues (and woes) that many of us are all too familiar with.
Her wispy tone echos of the longing that comes with the holiday season. This tune warms the listener in a delicate yet cosy musical emulsification whilst the beat itself is full of instrumental collaborations that build the most perfect compilation of sounds, all emphasised by her immersive, alluring vocals. Heightened by the soft modulation of the cymbal, we are taken along an amplified pilgrimage of sound as she adds a complimenting dynamic to the poetic, bassy notes creating the most indulgent nu jazz - RnB listening experience.
Blues On The Crosley is the latest release by this sultry Brooklyn born songstress and provides listeners the perfect balance of warmth, authenticity and comfort that speaks for everything that the Christmas season highlights. It perfectly balances the ideas of winter’s habitual frostiness with the warmth and intensity that this time of year brings. The song is reflective and cool, yet burning with ferocious emotion that warms the heart. This song had a timely release and is easily a new - family friendly- wholesome tune that naturally has the power to bring everyone together.
