If you are a fan of gritty, no nonsense, just straight bars type of Hip-Hop, Demetrius is your guy. In the very saturated scene in the US, he takes it back to the basics and just spits what’s on his mind at the time. His sound reminds me of a mix between the game out in the East Coast, and the sound coming out of Chicago right now. Think of it as a mix between ASAP Ferg and King Von (Rest in Peace). Demetrius comes up guns blazing, with his flow, guaranteed to make you bop your head less than a minute into the song.
The production in his song is a hitter, starting off with a melodic piano riff going straight to the business with the drums. You can also take in a faint melody in the background which is a great addition of darkness to the song. Personally I don’t know if it’s intentional but it gives off more of a gangster rap/drill music type of vibe. What really strikes me with this beat is that its versatile, meaning that I can listen to the song in the car, and I can see this song being played in the club on a banging night.
My personal rating for this song would have to be a 7/10, although a banger in every sense of the word, I usually go back to my initial statement that the scene in the States is very saturated, with a new rapper popping up every day, versatility is key into gaining a step in front of everyone else in the game. But do not get it twisted, this dude can rap, its only a matter of time before he steps out of his comfort zone and starts going to the beat of his own drum, showing why he could very well be the next up.
