J P Rose New Releases ‘Control’

Words by Ben Tibbits @tibbitsben

Producer, multi-instrumentalist and artist J P Rose has been quietly building an impressive resume. The North-Londoner has produced and written for some of UK alt rap’s brightest sparks - the likes of Sainté and Feux, as well as sharing the stage with household names like Kojey Radical and Sam Wise.

‘Control’ combines the influence of Hip Hop and Soul, with Rose delving through styles effortlessly, merging the different generic sensibilities into a refined and rich soundscape that allows its listener’s ears to succumb to buttery bliss.

The visual accompaniment to the track comes courtesy of one of underground rap’s leading director Tansy Taylor, and is a light-hearted affair with J P and his boys living in the moment. Discussing the new single, J P commented “it’s a song about staying focused and in control of one’s destiny, and being able to give props to yourself along the way”

The single is the first taster of Rose’s upcoming mixtape ‘Lo-Soul’, which is set for release this Spring. Entirely self-produced, J P looks set to flex his multifaceted muscles, with the EP exploring his musicality, lyrical acumen, and also his chemistry with fellow artists, with fan favourite names like Feux and Kieron Boothe featuring.
