Straight up, Abnormal Sleepz new track is cold as fuck. Emerging from the ranks of Manchester’s elite, multi-talented rapper and producer Abnormal Sleepz has released his latest single ‘Questions’ ahead of his forthcoming ‘The Meditape III’ mixtape, out later this spring. ‘Questions’ features Lancashire-based artist and choreographer, Blackhaine, and with the two combining together, they have perfectly encapsulated a sensationally raw and dark energy.

A sound that we haven’t heard from Sleepz until now, but one that we are so totally here for. His early work was inspired by the likes of Erykah Badu, Wiz Khalifa, and Kendrick Lamar, and he now moving forwards, Sleepz carries these influences with him to ensure there is power and passion in everything he releases.

I’m saying to the world that regardless of the questions, the doubts and journey I’ve had, I’m unbothered because I’m here, present, doing my thing.
— Abnormal Sleepz

As Sleepz further establishes his name amongst the growing collective of Mancunian greats, it must be said that his path to the top wasn’t an overnight job. In fact, credit is due for how much work he had to put in behind the scenes to finally start receiving the plaudits he currently rightfully deserves. What’s more, ‘Questions’ is an ode to this mentality that Sleepz has developed over the past few years, as he states: “I'm saying to the world that regardless of the questions, the doubts and journey I've had, I'm unbothered because I'm here, present, doing my thing.” A mentality that isn’t easy to shape, but a mentality that is of total necessity when trying to make it in the music industry.

Sleepz throughout ‘Questions’ maintains the lyrical power and cutting edge production that he has become so well known for, whilst his honesty and grit has ensured that Sleepz brings his listeners with him on his own journey of growth against a haunting yet effective backdrop. ‘Questions’ is experimental excellence, and a true force to be reckoned with. It is a track that deserves as much credit as the artists behind them.
