Mike Flowsta’s new single is titled Misunderstood but the message he is trying to promote is anything but. In fact, the clarity of what he is trying to get across is the perfect reflection of the current state of America. Misunderstood is about Flowsta doing what he has to do to survive, but the reason for him doing such things is because as a young African American, he has no other choice. And the law enforcement is just waiting to catch him.
The beat goes so hard in this track, as it should. When you’re trying to convey such a powerful message you need a beat that resonates with society. Mike Flowsta raps: “Wanna put me in them chains, they just wanna put me in them chains.” A grim reflection of the current state of America, with the law waiting at every chance to throw any young black man into jail. The only thing that needs locking up are Mike Flowsta’s bars because they go so hard.
