Maxi Millz is singing about Danny Ocean sounding like the Frank Ocean. The West London singer/songwriter has released his new track with DJ Target securing the first play on BBC 1xtra, so you already know that Maxi Millz is a man in high demand.
Danny Ocean is produced by the extremely talented multi-instrumentalist Fred Cox, who has worked alongside the likes of Greentea Peng and Etta Bond. Together, they have fused a variety of different genres together such as Funk, Hip-Hop, and R&B, with the end product being an eclectic blend of soulful rapping, with a soothing melody. The track takes you on a calming path that will fully absorb you and have you feeling just like Danny Ocean.

The track was inspired by Ocean’s Eleven which Maxi watched during the course of lockdown 3.0, showcasing how something seriously good can come from a lockdown. The visuals for the video are set in the heart of Las Vegas where we see Maxi’s character take part in a cash deal that leads to a series of late nights, early mornings, and recklessness. The stuff of dreams right now. Maxi explained: “Every lockdown there is, I choose a series of films to watch. This time it was all the Oceans films. They’ve always been my favourite mainly cus of Danny Ocean and Rusty’s character. The subplot of a hopeless romantic reminds me of me. But everything always works out fine in the end.”
Since launching his music career, Maxi’s sound has exploded and been supported by the likes of Yasmin Evans, Tiffany Calver, Maya Jama and the winner of BBC’s sound of 2021 Pa Salieu. Along with his track Danny Ocean, released on the 24th February, Maxi’s debut 8-track project ‘Captions’ drops on the 12th March, so it’s safe to say the future is bright for Maxi Millz. And fuck, we are so here for it.
