It’s here man, it’s finally here, and wow, it was well worth the wait. After being drip-fed the most stunning single releases, Maxi Millz has blessed us all with his highly anticipated EP ‘Captions’. Through his previous releases, Maxi has generated an undeniable buzz and set the tone for the ultimate release of his EP. Maxi Millz has been a guy that’s been on everyone’s radar for a while, the type of artist where it felt as though he’s so close to making that huge breakthrough. However this time, with the release of ‘Captions’ it feels completely out of the question whether Maxi is going to make it big. He is the next major R&B player in the game.

Growing up, Maxi spent a large part of his childhood with his family in America, experiencing a rich culture of music in cities like New York, Baltimore, and London. Meanwhile, growing up in a music-loving household, Maxi’s musical journey was further enriched as he grew up listening to his parents’ Motown, Blues, and Soul record collections. As he began to find his own style, he became obsessed with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Earth Wind & Fire, and Aretha Franklin, and cites them as his greatest inspirations. When you take into account the historical musical cities of his upbringing, along with the range of early musical influences in his life, it’s easy to see why there is such a rich cultural tone within his music.

On ‘CaptionsMaxi worked with a tight group of producers, including Fred Cox, who has worked with the likes of Green Tea Peng and Etta Bond, and BNYX, who has previously worked with TyDolla$ign and Shy Glizzy. So when working with these two producers, combined with Maxi’s range of musical influences, something special was bound to happen. Collectively they built a chemistry that complimented Maxi’s vision of how he wanted to portray his life through his music, reflecting on themes of heartache, growth, and unrequited love.

Maxi Millz’ latest EP showcases so incredibly well how talented he is, but when you are that talented, why shouldn’t you show it off?

The 8-track project showcases Maxi’s falsetto and highly developed sound which is an eclectic blend of R&B, Hip-Hop, and Funk. You have the Blues’ influence early on in the EP immediately when listening to the melody in ‘Painted Face’. Similarly, in ‘Screentime’, the Bluesy riff mixed with Maxi’s silky smooth voice is simply sensational. Meanwhile, on ‘SFP’ you have the more synth-driven beat, combined with a more Hip-Hop approach from Maxi himself. Maxi Millz’s latest EP showcases so incredibly well how talented he is, but when you are that talented, why shouldn’t you show it off? ‘Captions’ has been a long time coming, but fuck it was so worth the wait to see Maxi display his incredible skills like this. ‘Captions’ drops today, and we highly suggest you check it out.
