Music has the power to take you places, I regularly mention this power, as it is one of the reasons I indulge in music in the way I do. So on a wintery Saturday morning, after a nervous week at work, I found myself craving a dreamy sound, soothing melodies that aid my escapism, a travelling sound, as strong as it is soft. Luckily enough for me a futuristic ensemble, found me this week and it combined all the above. After a week of pressures and life stresses, propelled by emotion, this took to my spirit like a hand to a glove.
Amby, is the American Indie-pop Queen, who’s latest release So Good To Me is as magical in sound as she indeed appears to be. Modernly mystical, this tune has a way of immediately transporting the listener to what feels like realms of emotions, cultivated by instrumental sounds, uniquely combined to create a moving musical experience that takes you away from your current moment, if only for 2 minutes - if you allow it to. Some songs have a trance like ability, carefully and comfortably leading you down a path of your own internal exploration, creating a mental atmosphere, that takes the harshness out of what could feel like a slightly intrusive journey into your thoughts. This tune has this exactly ability.
We are introduced to Amby’s mystical vocals amongst the delicate strumming that greet us the track dawns on us. Her vocals deep yet playful, she gently pulls us through a journey of sound, that exposes her thoughts. The tune, as whole, is delicate and sombre yet futuristic. Without a shadow of a doubt this sits perfectly well in a moody, evening playlist. It speaks to a space and time that many of us can relate to.
The tune gives us just a burst of this brief, moody and seductive experience. It’s timing works perfectly in giving an insight into the depths of Amby’s mind and emotions without it drowning the listener whilst the number simultaneously combines the alternative RnB sound with Electo-pop seamlessly - it takes us into a very unique space, sweet and momentous before we draw for breath back to reality. This is perfectly perfect evening listening!
