Aliyah Niambi - Flashbacks
The eery yet provocative artwork lends a stark perspective on the content of the album. With the song Flashbacks in particular, Aliyah Niambi shares a glimpse into the difficulty of differentiating disruptive mental thoughts with reality. I can hear Niambi’s jazz influences but what stands out to me is Niambi’s vocal presence, such a commanding and attention grabbing tone. I love the spaced out production and at moments I’m being reminded of sounds of Massive Attack (might even be similarities in the artwork) or even Portishead. The whole album is a trip so I recommend you listen through.
